Selecting A Glass For Your uPVC Double Glazed Windows.

by admin on November 10, 2009

The options are myriad when it comes to selecting windows for your home.  Even when you have decided on, say, uPVC double glazed windows as being the best choice in terms of insulation and noise suppression, you still have to choose which type of glazing you would prefer in your window.

Selecting the proper glass can also have a marked effect on the thermal capacity of the uPVC double glazed windows.  There other types of widely used glass available, insulated glass, reflective glass, low emissivity glass and heat absorbing glass and clear glass, to name the most popular.

Clear glass is the most used glass on the market. However with many people being more energy aware with regard to uPVC windows, low emissivity glass is starting to become popular as it reduces heat transfer in your window and therefore has beneficial effects on it’s thermal capacity.  Heat absorbing glass absorbs solar energy and lowers the heat gain from the exterior.  Reflective glass reflects heat from the suns rays and reduces the amount of heat entering your home.

As you can see, even if you decide on uPVC double glazed windows, you still have choices to make.
