Alternatives to Bathroom Window Curtains

by GuestPoster on May 23, 2010

Curtains are great in most rooms in the home, but you don’t have to hang them everywhere. Sometimes you would like something less fussy than a bathroom window curtain in a small room, and if you are looking for something simple, you have a few alternatives.

1. A Simple Blind

Although the glass in bathroom windows is usually frosted or opaque, it is still nice to have something you can close in the evening, as this offers greater privacy. If you have a simple roller blind, you can roll it up out of the way during the day and pull it down at night. Roman shades would work well too.

2. Shutters

You could add shutters to your windows, if there is room to fold them back during the day and then you could close them at night over the window. Shutters may be left in natural wood or painted white to tone with your bathroom or you could paint them in a brighter color to go with your color scheme.

3. Colored Window Film

If you have a non opaque window, then you will have to have it replaced or cover it with opaque window film to provide privacy. If you decide to use film, look for some great options, which look like they are made of colored stained glass as these may be beautiful enough and provide enough privacy in the evening for you to leave the window otherwise bare of window curtains or other coverings.

4. Plant Life

If you like house plants, you could use your bathroom window sill to grow tall plants, which will cover the bottom half of the window and give you greater privacy. If you do this, make an effort to create a row of beautiful pots which actually add something to the bathroom decor rather than making your window sill a mess with a collection of cheap black or brown plastic plant pots.
